Yeah, it is rather silly to get excited about (or even start considering) someone hitting .400 (although it's perfectly alright to get excited when your favourite team is in first place after 8 games ... :) ;) )

I don't think anyone thinks Suzuki is a fluke. He's always been among the hit leaders. He doesn't need to prove anything. I wouldn't want him breaking the record this year, because, like Woody said, it wouldn't be all that exciting. It was just broken. It was the same thing with the homerun record - for me anyways. It just wasn't exciting because it had just been broken.
