A lot of times the MLB will have afternoon games to close out series ... "getaway days". Since you play just about every day in baseball, there's a lot of times where you play one night until 11 or whatever, fly out to wherever (sometimes cross-country for the west teams) and then have to play the next night at 7 again. So to give those teams a break, they schedule in some series closers at 11am so the travel is a bit easier.

Of course, yesterday a lot of series were starting, so I don't get that at all. The weather is nicer in the summer, but by contrast so are the summer nights. If you are out East ... like Detroit ... are you going to attract more people during the brisk 40 degree nights now or during the nice 70 degree nights in the summer? The "buisnessman's specials" usually draw the same year round (hardly anyone can go due to work) so perhaps a bunch of teams just decided to get some out of the way?

The other one I don't understand at all is early day playoff games. The Anaheim-Boston series had the two games in Anaheim both starting at I think it was 11:05am. How the hell can the MLB be so ridiculous as to schedule home playoff games right in the middle of the majority of the home team fans' work days? That was incredibly stupid.
